"Oh Christmas Tree"

A Day in the Life:  December 24th

(Aged 15)
Wea.                                            THU. DEC. 24, 1896               Ther.

In A.M. helped Char cut cornstalks.  Had a Christmas Tree down to Rollie’s school.  He got a game of sliced birds.  In evening Charley and I went to the burg and to the M.B. Church Christmas tree.

(Aged 17)
Wea.                                            SAT. DEC. 24, 1898                 Ther.

Went to factory then went over and got grandma and Luella.  Took them home about 3.30 P.M.  In eve went down to the Xmas tree at M.E. Church went home with Clara Lonquist.

(Aged 18)
Wea.                                             SUN. DEC. 24, 1899                 Ther.

Went over to grandma’s.  All of Unkle Gib’s folks were there also Aunt Ada + Bernice.  They were all very glad to see me.

(Aged 19)
Wea.                                              MON. DEC. 24, 1900               Ther.

In A.M. went to the burg got my haircut + a box of cigars.  Mrs. Mason came up.  In afternoon stayed at home.  Spent Xmas eve with Alice. X

(Aged 20)
Wea.                                              TUE. DEC. 24, 1901                Ther.

I went to factory.  In P.M. greased harnesses.

Wea.                                               WED.  DEC. 24, 1902             Ther.

Split wood.  Ruth came down. 


Editor's Note:  Apparently, sliced birds was a game and not a "typo".  Follow the link to own your very own copy of the game.  I'm thinking that there weren't too many Christmas trees in people's houses yet since Allen seems to keep making the rounds to see the trees in the various local churches.
