A Day in the Life: December 20th


(Aged 15)
Wea.                                           SUN. DEC. 20, 1896               Ther. 

Stayed at home all day.  Ma + Rollie went to Sunday School up in the hollow.


(Aged 17)
Wea.                                            TUE. DEC. 20, 1898               Ther.

Drove to school rained all last night.


(Aged 18)
Wea.                                             WED. DEC. 20, 1899               Ther.

Left Mr. Chase’s went to Rome townhouse but the town clerk wouldn’t let us in so we went and got a written order from two of the supervisors and showed in the eve.  Took in $2.75.  Stayed all night with Geo Mattison.


(Aged 19)
Wea.                                              THU. DEC. 20, 1900                 Ther.

Cut wood.  1 1/2 cd. In eve went over and asked Grandma to see me married.

(Aged 20)
Wea.                                            FRI. DEC. 20, 1901                Ther.

Drew out 4 loads of manure.


(Aged 21)
Wea.                                               SAT.  DEC. 20, 1902             Ther.

Drew out wood all day.

Editor's Note: I love imagining the moment between Grandson and Grandmother when Allen goes to personally invite Diantha to his wedding.  Presumably, Grandma already knows all about the engagement and the forthcoming nuptials.  She would have been privy to the courtship details since the family was so close both geographically but more importantly emotionally.  Allen was forever doing jobs for grandma and visiting her.  I believe he was just following protocol and that is very touching.
