A Day in the Life: December 28th


(Aged 15)
Wea.                                           MON. DEC. 28, 1896               Ther. 

Cut cornstalks in the A.M. In P.M. read a book called The Orient Boys.  In evening Charley + I played authors.


(Aged 17)
Wea.                                            WED. DEC. 28, 1898               Ther.

When I was coming downstairs this morning my crutch slipped and I fell + hurt my lame leg.  I will have to give up the singing school I am afraid.  Mr. Grover was here + rented the other place for $440.


(Aged 18)
Wea.                                             THU. DEC. 28, 1899               Ther.

Pa went over to Hartson’s to buy a cow.  Got a letter from Irma saying she couldn’t go to the party at Glendine’s tonight.  Wrote a letter to Fred Wetmore, one to Edna Watsons, one to Cassie Conner.  In eve went to party had a fine time with everybody.

Wea.                                             FRI. DEC. 28, 1900                 Ther.

Stayed at home in A.M.   In P.M. went up to Alice’s + we stayed all night.  XX


(Aged 20)
Wea.                                              SAT. DEC. 28, 1901                Ther.

Greased harness.  Drew 2 loads of manure.  Ma came over.


(Aged 21)
Wea.                                               SUN.  DEC. 28, 1902             Ther.

Stayed at home all day.  Went to factory.

Editor's Note:  The Orient Boys does not seem to be a title one can easily find.  I can't imagine why.   As for falling down the stairs, clearly at some point he gives up on crutches and wears a seriously built-up shoe instead.  None too soon.
