A Day in the Life: December 26th


(Aged 15)
Wea.                                             SAT. DEC. 26, 1896               Ther.

Pa + Ma went to Jamestown.  Geo + Charley cut bolts.  Rollie + I stayed at home.  Charley + I played Authors in the evening until 9.30 o’clock.



(Aged 17)
Wea. snowy                                  MON. DEC. 26, 1898               Ther.

In A.M. went to factory came back + helped kill + dress 4 pigs and in P.M. we killed 4 more pigs.  In eve took Mrs. Mason home + went to signing school let by Mr. Davis.  Went home with Lydia Lawson + Lucia Lunbard.




(Aged 18)
Wea.                                             TUE. DEC. 26, 1899               Ther.

Stayed at home all day  In eve went up to see Irma Bunce.  Pa went to town and got me a diary for 1900.  Got him one too.



(Aged 19)
Wea.                                              WED. DEC. 26, 1900                 Ther.

In A.M. stayed in the house and in P.M. went up to Ivory + set up the cigars in the pot that the boys gave me for Xmas.  Pearl + Ruth came down in the evening.  We popped corn + had a great old time.  XX Alice went to sleep.

Greased harness.  Pearle came down.


(Aged 21)
Wea.                                               FRI.  DEC. 26, 1902             Ther.

Split wood.  Took Alice over to Pa’s.  In eve we went over to see Rollie’s magic lantern.

Editor's Note: Poor woman was exhausted by the honeymoon no doubt.   Romance aside, I think it is lovely to see the little brother picking up the interests of the older.  It was Allen who was the photographer first but Rollie who took it to an artistic level.  I'm not sure Rollie's magic lantern show goes too far but for sure Allen's latest a few months.
