A Day in the Life: August 2nd


(Aged 14)
Wea.                                           MON. AUG. 2, 1896               Ther. 

Pa + Ma went to see Aunt Em.  Rollie + I went over to grandma’s.


(Aged 16)
Wea.                                            WED. AUG. 2, 1898               Ther.

Went to factory.  Worked all day.  In eve we all went over to school meeting.


(Aged 17)

Wea.                                             THU. AUG. 2, 1899               Ther.

Stayed at home in A.M.  In P.M. worked on the road for grandma am to get $1 a day.


(Aged 18)
Wea.                                             FRI. AUG. 2, 1900                 Ther.

Finished haying.  In eve went up to Ivory and played ball.  I was elected manager of the first nine.  Am I not great.
            
That baseball thing really caught on.


(Aged 19)
Wea.                                              SAT. AUG. 2, 1901                Ther.

Will cut brush.  Frankie mowed out the road.  Pa, Ma + Rollie went up to Page’s.


(Aged 20)
Wea.                                               SUN.  AUG. 2, 1902                Ther.

Drew in 2 load of hay from back of Jim’s + two small loads of spoiled hay from up toward Page’s.  Stacked it back of horse barn.   J. Howard 1 day.


(Aged 21)
Wea.                                              MON.  AUG. 2, 1903                  Ther.

NO ENTRY AGAIN UNTIL OCTOBER 10th.

Editor's Note:  It is sweet to see Allen so proud of himself at being elected manager.  Hard to believe he is soon to be married.

  1. Thanks for sharing! It's really interesting to see how some things changed over the years--and how some events (haying) were mentioned several years on this same date.
