Ice Cream Social Season
A Day in the Life: June 30th
(Aged 14)
Wea. TUE. JUNE 30, 1896 Ther.
Worked all day. In evening had an ice cream social up to Ed Harrington’s. All of us went.

Wea. THU. JUNE 30, 1898 Ther.
Went to factory. Cultivated grandma’s potatoes then worked at raking + drawing in hay 1/2 day. In eve went in swimming. Leon Page came over.

Wea. FRI. JUNE 30, 1899 Ther.
Drew in 4 loads of hay. Worked all day.
(Aged 18)
Wea. SAT. JUNE 30, 1900 Ther.
Worked in A.M. In P.M. umpired a game of ball between Oak Hill and Ivory. Got a letter from Alice.

Wea. SUN. JUNE 30, 1901 Ther.
Stayed at home. Frankie was sick.

Wea. MON. JUNE 30, 1902 Ther.
Worked around and made our wagon box.

NO ENTRY AGAIN UNTIL OCTOBER 10th
Editor's Note: Clearly summer is in full swing with the ice cream social, the swimming hole visits and the ball game. This is not the first mention of Allen umpiring a game. Obviously, he was a sports loving boy based on the number of mentions of football, etc. However, his foot probably limited him from the running necessary in baseball. He would have been the perfect choice to ump.
So who is the sick Frankie? Kineston maybe? Allen would never refer to his father as anything but Pa. Frank Warn, his "bestie" is almost always Frank Warn. Maybe it is Frank Kineston helping him out.
