Editor's Note:
Clearly summer is in full swing with the ice cream social, the swimming hole visits and the ball game.  This is not the first mention of Allen umpiring a game.  Obviously, he was a sports loving boy based on the number of mentions of football, etc.  However, his foot probably limited him from the running necessary in baseball.  He would have been the perfect choice to ump.

So who is the sick Frankie?  Kineston maybe?  Allen would never refer to his father as anything but Pa.  Frank Warn, his "bestie" is almost always Frank Warn.  Maybe it is Frank Kineston helping him out.
