First Day of School

A Day in the Life: September 7th


(Aged 14)
Wea.                                           MON. SEPT. 7, 1896               Ther. 

Rode my bicycle to school.  School let out at noon + I came home + went over to grandma’s.  Rollie went to school stayed all day.


(Aged 16)
Wea.                                            WED. SEPT. 7, 1898               Ther.

Went to school.  Drove.  Ada Page rode part way home with me.  Luella commenced going to school.  Pa, Ma, Rollie + Grandma all went over to Aunt Sally’s. 

Mabel Cass as marked.  Poland School House.  Look at her beam--she totally loved it and went on to teach there as well.

Slept most of the day.

Built fence around that meadow back of Jim’s.  Will put the cows in there tomorrow.


(Aged 20)
Wea.                                               SUN.  SEPT. 7, 1902                Ther.

Stayed at home in the A.M.  In the P.M. took Alice over to Pa’s for a ride.

NO ENTRY AGAIN UNTIL OCTOBER 10th.

Editor's Note:  Why would Allen say Luella commenced going to school?  She would have been around 12 years old already.  That seems a bit late. I suppose what would make most sense is that she moved up to the higher grade school and now went to the same school as he did.
