Ma went down to see Aunt Em in A.M.  Rollie + I went over to grandma’s.  Ma + I went down to Aunt Em’s in evening.  She is very bad.

Wea.                                            TUE. AUG. 30, 1898               Ther.

Went to factory.  In P.M. went over to grandma's on my wheel.  Rollie went on his velospeed.

Went to factory.  Went to town with Harry Morris (?) and got our glass door fixed.  In eve. went up to Ivory.

Rained all day.

Went to Kennedy with Andrew.  Fixed fence.

NO ENTRY AGAIN UNTIL OCTOBER 10th.

Editor's Note: I'm guessing Rollie's velospeed was really a "velocipede" that was either a bike powered by his feet on the ground or some sort of tricycle since he was only 6 years old.

In 1899, someone in the boarding house has definitely gotten a hold of Allen's journal.  Not only is the script not his but for all his church going, Allen has never revealed himself to be particularly religious in his journal.  I think this is the first time God has even been written.
