Editor's Note:   I realize there are days when our lives really are mundane.  However, what we reveal in our diaries is only what we are willing to have found out about us.  We are our own best editors.  Allen was no different.  It is interesting what he writes as much as what he doesn't write.  Every once in a while he reveals flashes of strong emotion.  Usually it has to do with Frank "licking" him or at least trying to.  However, Allen is coy about kissing and telling usually summarizing with a standard "had a fine time".  I am convinced this means that at least first base was reached, if not more.

I don't usually do this but I have "scanned" ahead and understand there is a great deal of unwritten turmoil in 1899 that makes 1900 all the more interesting as it settles.  While I plan to continue transcribing in the current format until the end of the year, I may go into more depth with those two years.  You see, Diana and I really are in disarray with our ephemera and have so much information that we find only as we go along.  There is a bigger story and it is worth delving.
