A Day in the Life: July 15th


(Aged 14)
Wea.                                           WED. JULY 15, 1896               Ther.

Rollie + I stayed all night with grandma’s last night.  Worked all day.  Aunt Em is worse.


(Aged 16)
Wea.                                             FRI. JULY 15, 1898               Ther.

Went to factory + worked all day.  In eve went up to Frank Warn’s + we went in swimming.  He stayed all night with me.  The chain ran off my wheel + sprung the frame + broke the chain.



(Aged 17)
Wea.                                             SAT. JULY 15, 1899               Ther.

Worked some but not much as it rained.  In eve went in swimming + down to the burg with Leon Page.


(Aged 18)
Wea.                                              SUN. JULY 15, 1900                 Ther.

Slept in A.M.  In P.M. went to town took Alice out for a drive got home at 1 A.M.  Alice promised me the same thing she did June 12.  Hope it will last this time.


(Aged 19)
Wea.                                              MON. JULY 15, 1901                Ther.

Hayed it at pa’s.


(Aged 20)
Wea.                                               TUE.  JULY 15, 1902             Ther.

Went to town paid two notes.  Got in 1 load.

NO ENTRY AGAIN UNTIL OCTOBER 10th

Editor's Note:  I looked back and I have no idea what Alice promised Allen because he did not have an entry that day.  It is of significance that he made no note of it on the day but still knows exactly the day said promise was made.   It seems to me that he is asking her to change something about herself--a behavior most likely because saying he  "hope(s) it will last this time" suggests she so sort of effort on her part is required.
