A Day in the Life: April 10th


(Aged 14)
Wea.                                            FRI. APRIL 10, 1896               Ther.  18

Went to school.  Went up to Ed Harrington’s in the evening for Warm Sugar Social.


(Aged 16)
Wea.  Cloudy                               SUN. APRIL 10, 1898               Ther.

In A.M. went to the factory.  Grandma came home with me.  In P.M. Ma went round that way + took her home + then went up the Hollow to S.S.  Chas Slater + I rode our wheels up.  In eve we rode them down to the burg to meeting.  Went home with Clara Londquist.

Wea.                                             MON. APRIL 10, 1899               Ther.

Drove to school played football.  After school went up to Bradley’s for Pa.  John Glaspy went with me.  Pa boiled sap all day.  Got a letter from Verna White.


(Aged 18)
Wea.                                              TUE. APRIL 10, 1900                 Ther.

Stayed in the house all day.  Wrote a letter to Alice.

NO ENTRY AGAIN UNTIL MAY 22nd


(Aged 20)
Wea.                                               THU.  APRIL 10, 1902             Ther.

The black Page cow died.  I went factory + Gail skinned the cow.* In P.M. Lawrence came over + we cut wood down on the big creek.  Alice got mad and called me a fool three or four times.

Editor's Note:   Why was Alice calling Allen a fool?  Diana thinks Allen probably wasn't being safe about where they were cutting the wood which made me wonder if Allen knew how to swim?  I would think the water would be rushing and very high this time of year in the Big Creek.  I assume the Big Creek could only be the Conewango.
