Frank Cass: Diaries of An Old Man

It seems I can't keep away from the family journals however, I don't think I can keep up the pace of last year.  Lucky for me, Great-Great Grandpa Frank S. Cass was given two 5 year journals in the last decade of his life.  The first volume 1923-1927 was a Christmas present from his son Allen and d-i-l Alice.  The second volume 1928- 1932 was a Christmas present from his youngest son Rollin and d-i-l Esther.  Again, I have not read them ahead of transcribing but I do feel, in contrast to Allen's journals of a young man, Frank's may be a little more phlegmaticWe shall see...

Thoughts:  In 1923, it seems Frank is not yet on familiar terms with his grandson-in-law since he calls him Carl Anderson as if he is just Dorothy's beau du jour.  However, he should just be calling him Carl since he and Dorothy had the first great -grandchild 6 months earlier. If that doesn't "make" you with the family, what would?

Mrs. Ella Bingham passed away on December 29, 1923. What a bad way for her family to start the new year.  Her sons Fred and Bert were mentioned often in Allen's journals.

  2. The Cass Family is back!!!! Yeah...I was getting lonely without them and without your writing, Jenny! This is like when your favorite TV series has been renewed for at least one more season! Thank you for bringing my ancestors alive for me! Patsy
