A Day in the Life: October 25th


(Aged 14)
Wea.                                           SUN. OCT. 25, 1896               Ther. 

Grandma came over.  Harrison Miller came up + went up the hollow to church so did ma + grandma.


(Aged 16)
Wea.                                            TUE. OCT. 25, 1898               Ther.

Went to school.  Rode down with Jim Smith + back with Ada Page.



(Aged 17)
Wea.                                             WED. OCT. 25, 1899               Ther.

Worked all day around the packing house + teaming.  In eve Frank McGregor and I went to Fredonia got home at 4 o’clock next morning.  Got a letter from ma.



(Aged 18)
Wea.                                              THU. OCT. 25, 1900                 Ther.

Worked till about 3 P.M. drawing cornstalks.  Then Mearle + I went to town. He went to a speach  (sic) + I took Alice out for a ride.  I was mean but I felt mean.  Got home at 2.30 + wrote her a letter asking her to forgive me.
Who else remembers Mad Boy?



(Aged 19)
Wea.                                              FRI. OCT. 25, 1901                Ther.

Will plowed in front of Smith’s.  Chas husked corn.  I went up to Granises to get some lumber and hued some stringers.

Wea.                                               SAT.  OCT. 25, 1902             Ther.

Plowed in big meadow.  Alice, Ma, Rollie + Willard went to Gib’s.

Editor's Note:  Wonder what Allen was going through when he picked the fight with Alice?  Maybe he was pushing back a little on the future as it was unfurling for him.  He was was 18 in the dawn of his prime and engaged to be married. Maybe it was just one of those days.  After all he was quick to beg forgiveness.
