Happy Birthday Mom!

A Day in the Life: June 1st


Today would have been Mom’s 74th Birthday.  She’s twirling fire in heaven.


(Aged 14)
Wea. fine                                  MON. JUNE 1, 1896               Ther. 

Went to school in the A.M.  Ma + Rollie went to Jamestown.  In P.M. went berrying got about a quart of strawberries.  Went up to Bert’s mill with Geo Walters.


(Aged 16)
Wea.                                         WED. JUNE 1, 1898               Ther.

Went to factory.  In eve went up the hollow + joined the King’s sons + daughters went home with Ellen Pretty.


(Aged 17)
Wea.                                             THU. JUNE 1, 1899               Ther.

Rode my wheel to school.  Played ball.


(Aged 18)
Wea.                                              FRI. JUNE 1, 1900                 Ther.

Drew blockings for the barn.


(Aged 19)
Wea.                                              SAT. JUNE 1, 1901                Ther.

Built pig pen and drew a load of wood.


(Aged 20)

Wea.                                               SUN.  JUNE 1, 1902                Ther.

Stayed at home.  I went to factory Jim Smith helped me do chores.

Wea.                                              MON.  JUNE 1, 1903                  Ther.


Moved down to Frewsburg in Lydia Myers house.

Editor's Note:
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Lydia Myers' house is the one we have the picture of little Willard and Dorothy standing in front of squinting in the sun.  Because on June 1, 1903  Alice Cass is VERY pregnant with Dorothy.  I couldn't imagine being in the final weeks of pregnancy, riding on a dirt road, in a wagon, in the heat, with all your furniture strapped in the back and a toddler on your knee.  We have a cushy existence these days.

And yes indeed, Mom could definitely twirl fire!  :-)
