A Day in the Life: March 16th


(Aged 14)
Wea.  Cloudy                               MON. MARCH 16, 1896                Ther.

Went to school.  Have passed in Geography have not got to study that any more.
Not to worry, Allen always had a crib sheet in his diaries.


(Aged 16)
Wea.  Sunny                                WED. MARCH 16, 1898                Ther.

Went to school played football.  Mrs. Mason + Alice Peterson came up and stayed all night.  I boiled sap in the evening played checkers.


(Aged 17)
Wea.                                             THU. MARCH 16, 1899                Ther.

Stayed at home and boiled sap all day.  After supper went up the hollow + got me some one fingered mittens and pa some tobacco.


(Aged 18)
Wea.                                             FRI. MARCH 16, 1900                  Ther.

Went to school.  Rode home with Ma + Grandma as they were down.  In eve Alice Warn and I went to a party at Gail Klocks.  Awful cold, got home at 1.30

Wea.                                              SAT. MARCH 16, 1901                  Ther.

NO ENTRY AGAIN UNTIL MAY 22nd


(Aged 20)
Wea.                                              SUN.  MARCH 16, 1902                Ther.

Stayed at home all day.  Pa came over.  Gail went up to see his family.  Rainy.

Wea.                                              MON.  MARCH 16, 1903               Ther.

NO ENTRY MADE AGAIN UNTIL MAY 1st

Editor's Note: What I learned today is one fingered mittens are good for many things including hunting and snowboarding.  Maybe Allen was the kind of hunter who thought he just needed the right equipment for success.  I find it interesting that Frank was willing to banish Allen over tobacco and yet he smokes himself.  I didn't figure on that.  It seems to be that old parenting adage "Do as I say and not as I do" in action.
