Photo Fantasy Friday

THE CASS SISTERS

Have you ever wanted to step inside a photo and breathe in the exact moment of time captured and stilled in it? Having found a number of such evocative photos in our archives we thought we'd begin sharing some of them.  The first is a pick of mine and it shows sisters Ruth and Mabel Cass sitting on the front porch of Lone Pine in the early 1920s.

There is something about this photograph and the looks on their faces that makes me want to pour a glass of lemonade and sit down on the cool concrete step next to them.   I feel their confidence in their beauty and style lift off the image.  I adore their outfits and can imagine the feel of the fabrics and the slight pinch of the shoes on their feet.  Summers in Central and Western New York are my favorites.  They are warm, lush and fragrant.  Though there's no date on this photograph there is no doubt it is a warm day and I am so certain there are pretty flower beds just out of view on either side of the step that I can imagine their smell.

  1. I would give anything to have those shoes. Both pairs if you please.
