Went to school. Had a great snow-ball fight. Caitlin came over to see Pa.

Went over on that place by grandma’s + cut sugar wood out of the stump fence. Jeff Owens came here + tried to rent that old house in front of Smiths. In evening we played Authors.

Asa went home in the P.M. Chas Slater came over. Rollie + I went over to grandma’s with Glen and Frank. Aunt May was there with all the kids. Unkle Gib came down after them about 8 o’clock and I came home.

Wea. MON. FEB. 26, 1900 Ther.
Went to school. Awful cold about 0 and the wind blowing awful. Bought Bessie a ticket for the moving picture entertainment tomorrow eve. Had a new scholar her name is Jeanie Howard from Dodge, NY.

Went with Pa and Frank Kineston on a “jockey” trip. Pa got a horse.

Wea. WED. FEB. 26, 1902 Ther.
Drew 3 loads of manure. Took the hams over to pa’s to brine them. In P.M. took Alice over to Pa’s. Bot a horse (Kilt?) of(f) Percy Springer for note of $40 + dog cart I gave $12.50 for. Bot a single harness of(f) Arnie Shaw for $9.70.

Editor's Note: Where is Alice in 1900? After a hot start to the New Year, Bessie Traver has definitely begun to outpace her for Allen's attention. I can't help but think this dates back to the party at the Page Farm when Alice was annoyed with Allen and would not be moved. Maybe Allen is just trying to prove to himself that he's not caught yet.

Hey don't you have the our deck of AUTHORS that we bought in Astoria in 1988? Let's crack it out next time we are together. In fact, lets go have a picnic on the banks of Cass Run and play it there!

ReplyDeleteI will bet that Asa is Asa Crandall. Gilbert's son, Harry Josiah married a Crandall and they lived with her parents for awhile.
