A Day in the Life: September 20th



(Aged 14)
Wea.                                           SUN. SEPT. 20, 1896               Ther. 

Ma went down to Aunt Em’s.  Pa + Rollie went over to grandma’s.  I started for Unkle Gib’s but cracked the steering fork when about 1/2 way there + had to come home.

Wea.                                            TUE. SEPT. 20, 1898               Ther.

Rode my wheel to school.  Today was the first of football playing.

Wea.                                             WED. SEPT. 20, 1899               Ther.

NO ENTRY AGAIN UNTIL OCTOBER 2nd.

(Aged 18)
Wea.                                              THU. SEPT. 20, 1900                 Ther.

Went to school with Gordon.  Sent a letter to Alice telling her it was all over.  Studied until ten o'clock.*

Broken Hearted?

Wea.                                              FRI. SEPT. 20, 1901                Ther.

Had to milk all the cows alone.  Fred went to the burg last night + hasn’t shown up.

Wea.                                               SAT.  SEPT. 20, 1902             Ther.

Put on the cement for the silo.  Changed mortgage on Frank Kineston’s horses.  In eve went to town and got 2 bu peaches.  $1.15 per bu.

NO ENTRY AGAIN UNTIL OCTOBER 10th.

Editor's Note:  *last sentence Allen is clearly very sleepy.  He doesn't seem cut-up about breaking up with Alice and sadly gives no indication it was even under consideration. 

And I repeat, that first bike in 1896 was a total dud.
