Editor's Note: Allen is trying a new approach to his working situation. The book is pretty interesting to Diana and me for a few reasons--1) that we can find multiple copies online now the above being just one of them and 2)I'm thinking Allen read the book too. At some point in the 1910s a young Filipino musician comes to live on the farm for a while. He and Mabel became great friends and carry on a correspondence for years. In fact, in the 1990s, Diana was able to find his family in the Philippines and talk about the connection. Will post more on that and pictures too.
