Editor's Note: How absolutely wonderful to think of 71-year-old Diantha Cass fishing with her grandson on the bayou.  However, I don't know where this bayou was meant to be just as yesterday I didn't know what Allen meant but biking across "the flats".    It must be at the new house that he is making the garden with his mother.

Also, uncertainty surrounds what possibly could have put Allen off riding with Mattie Cowan again.  Perhaps he doesn't wish to lead her on.  Don't worry about her though.  She is not left on the shelf.  She marries Adam Vandewark and has a son named Glenn.  Likely, some of her descendants are still around today.

As for Jennie's Hotchkiss' husband, I don't think Hotchkiss was her married name because there was a Jennie Hotchkiss who would have been more of Frank and Nora's contemporary but that was her maiden name.  Maybe she married later in life and folks never were able to think of her as Mrs. ...

There is another Jennie, much younger but still older than Allen.  Her married name is Hotchkiss but her husband is still alive in 1900.
