A Day in the Life: April 3rd


(Aged 14)
Wea. very cold + windy               FRI. APRIL 3, 1896                       Ther.  18

Went to school.  Began to be good.   If I am not sassy or cross for two weeks I can (have) $40 for a bicycle.  I begin to day, to day counts.

Quite cold  Stayed at home all day.

Worked all day drawing stone from the burying ground + manure with Randsom.

Wea.                                              TUE. APRIL 3, 1900                      Ther.

Drew the milk and boiled sap in A.M.  in P.M. drew manure.  Took a picture of Rollie.  In eve went to the burg and got some developer off Erd White but the picture is no good.

Gail went to the factory.  Ma came over.  We split fence posts + cleaned out the calf stable.

Editor's Note:  Unbelievably, we have never come across a photograph of Allen's bike in our boxes well-ordered files.  We know that Allen gets the bike because we know he had one--likely the same  one he sold on to Randsom King the other day.
