A Day in the Life: December 7th


(Aged 15)
Wea.                                           SUN. DEC. 7, 1896               Ther. 

Went to school.


(Aged 17)
Wea.                                            TUE. DEC. 7, 1898               Ther.

Rode down to school with Pa.  He went to Jamestown.  Rode home with Elmer Warn.  In eve Pa + Ma went up to Maxwell’s.  Pa is going to make out some papers as Josh has sold his place. 


(Aged 18)
Wea.                                             WED. DEC. 7, 1899               Ther.

Left Morton’s about 11 o’clock A.M. and went over to the Taylor school house.  Showed there in eve took in $1.85.  Stayed all night with Frank Powers.


(Aged 19)
Wea.                                              THU. DEC. 7, 1900                 Ther.

Went up to Unkle Gibb’s.  Flaggs folks + Grouts were there.  In eve went up to see Alice. xx  Glen came down to stay all night.


(Aged 20)
Wea.                                              FRI. DEC. 7, 1901                Ther.

Battened the south side and cleaned off the floor.  Will + Jim cut wood in P.M.  Will went about 4 o’clock.



(Aged 21)
Wea.                                               SAT.  DEC. 7, 1902             Ther.

Stayed at home all day.

Editor's Note: Still no closer than before on figuring out who Joshua Maxwell was for sure.  But in 1900 I'm fairly certain the Flaggs were both educators and James Flagg was even the School Commissioner for Chautauqua's 3rd district.  The Grouts could have been either part of the local family of that name.  One was a farmer and his family but the other was a bachelor and his spinster sister.  In one census, the bachelor listed himself as a Spiritualist.
