A Wedding Date is Fixed (maybe)
A Day in the Life: November 14th
(Aged 14)
Wea. SAT. NOV. 14, 1896 Ther.
Husked 3 bu of corn. In P.M. Charley + I played snowball. Ma went up to the Sunday School convention. Pa went with Miles Coe up to Flora Shaw’s.
(Aged 16)
Wea. MON. NOV. 14, 1898 Ther.
Drove to school. It was sort of rainy.
(Aged 17)
Wea. TUE. NOV. 14, 1899 Ther.
Left Sheridan at 9 for Forestville where we are to show tonight. It rained all day. In eve cleared up but only took in $1.05 and the man who owned the opera house didn’t charge us anything and made us a bed to sleep on up in the gallery.
(Aged 18)
Wea. WED. NOV. 14, 1900 Ther.
In A.M. went to the factory. In the P.M. went to the burg with Leon. Killed a pig. Leon went over to his grandma’s. In eve went up to see Alice. Went up on horseback. Pearle gave it to me about Leon. Came home about 11. Maybe at Christmas. XX
(Aged 19)
Wea. THU. NOV. 14, 1901 Ther.
Ruth came down. I went to the factory. Got a dividend of $61.00. I washed the baby.
(Aged 20)
Wea. FRI. NOV. 14, 1902 Ther.
Fixed a platform around pump. Got dividend $65.57. Wrote to Sears Roebuck about stove. Pa came over to get buggy. Ma + Rollie are going to Corydon.
(Aged 21)
Wea. SAT. NOV. 14, 1903 Ther.
Got Bill shod. Went over to Dr. Rich’s for some medicine for Alice. She is better.
Editor's Note: I can't find a trace of the Forestville Opera House. :-( I would have like to have seen what it looked like and imagine the boys sleeping in the gallery. The owner was very kind to forgive their rental fee for the night and give them a free bed.
I take it back in 1900, Pearle has no romantic interest in Leon and feels her future brother-in-law has teased her into an awkward position.
