A Day in the Life: May 8th
(Aged 14)
Wea. Hot FRI. MAY 8, 1896 Ther. 90
Abdor Day did not go to school. Helped draw 2 loads of sand + a load of stone for the barn. Went to a lecture with ma at Frewsburg.

Wea. SUN. MAY 8, 1898 Ther.
Went to factory Grandma came over, her + ma went ot S.S. up the hollow. I stayed at home all day. In eve went down to the burg to church.

Wea. MON. MAY 8, 1899 Ther.
Rode my wheel to school. Played football. Frank Warn stayed all night with me. After school covered potatoes. Wrote a letter to Mabel White.

Wea. TUE. MAY 8, 1900 Ther.
Painted on the house all day except riding down to the burg with Mearle when he went after the mail. In eve it rained and I wrote a letter to Wilson + one to Mabel White.

NO ENTRY AGAIN UNTIL MAY 22nd

Went to factory traded horses with Pa got $50 to boot. Gail plowed. In P.M. went down to Huckleberry’s + traded horses with him got a dollar, a watch, a crosscut saw + horse collar to boot.

Worked at everything. Went to Jamestown spent $15 --got my seed corn.
Editor's Note: The man is at it again. Trading horses and trading them again--such a character. And, is it just me or do watches make the rounds as well?
