A Day in the Life: June 4th
(Aged 14)
Wea. Hot THU. JUNE 4, 1896 Ther. 90
Went to school in the A.M. it did not keep in the P.M. In the evening went down to the entertainment given by the two primary (proms?). Pa inspected the Whitman bridge. Stayed all night with Mrs. Mason.
(Aged 16)
Wea. Windy SAT. JUNE 4, 1898 Ther.
Pa + Ma went to Jamestown got me a new suit of clothes cost $6. In eve went to singing school. Awful hot all day.
(Aged 17)
Wea. SUN. JUNE 4, 1899 Ther.
In A.M. went over to Harrington’s dam and took a bath. Went up home with Frank Warn + stayed till S.S. time then went to S.S. In eve went to the burg with Leon Page. I went home with Clara Blackmer. Howard Wilson went home with Kate Davis.

Drew blockings for the barn. Went up to Bradley’s Mill to see about the lumber. May Jackson rode down to the burg with me.

Wea. TUE. JUNE 4, 1901 Ther.
Finished planting potatoes. Alice + I went to town in P.M. In eve went up to see Frank + Irma.
(Aged 20)
Wea. WED. JUNE 4, 1902 Ther.
Pulled wild mustard. Got a calf of Mearle Cowan. Alice got mad because I talked with Arnie Shaw + started for home but didn’t go.

Went over Emery Hill.
Editor's Note: Interesting that Alice doesn't like Arnie Shaw. He is a bit of a wheeler-dealer always swapping horses and watches and things. Maybe Alice just thinks Allen never makes out in the deals. I don't know why her dad had this wilting flower image of her because on many occasions now she certainly has put up a fuss when she felt it was warranted. She walks off in huffs, she calls Allen a fool when he is one and at one point she stopped talking to him (before they were married). I would defer to her judgment I am sure.
