Editor's Note: I can't figure out who France Long is. But she(?) has been Allen's regular correspondent throughout the diaries transcribed to date. There is a Long family in Carroll at this time but none by the name of France or similar.
Well, Irma's pretty poetry sure got Allen all hot and bothered. I hope she is braced for Friday night...saying that is he going to try and follow through on some sweet nothings that she has offered him or is he going to try out her lines on other girls? I hate to question Allen's intentions and he has been "dating" Irma more than others in this year but I get the sense that he likes lots of different girls.

To be hot and bothered at 17. Could there be anything worse for a young man in Chautauqua County (or any other county for that matter) at the time?
