A Day in the Life: January 13th

Went to school got a ride down with Eddie Towns + a ride back with Ezra Thayer.

Wea. Windy THUR. JAN. 13, 1898 Ther. 36
Went to school drove my own horse. In evening went down to the burg + went to church with Irma Bunce, Yelmer Warn + Lydia Lawson. Chas Slater went down with me + went into church + sat down with a little Brooks girl. Rec’d one doz. pencils + this fountain pen which I sent for a while ago.

Drove to school. Played football at noon. After school went up to Bradley’s after some money but didn’t get it.
Ma + Rollie went up to Unkle (sic) Gib’s, Aunt May is sick abed with gripe.
Rained nearly all day.

Wea. SAT. JAN. 13, 1900 Ther.
Drew 3 loads of manure.
In eve took Alice Warn to a coasting party over to Glendina Taylor’s. After we got down coasting we took a sleigh ride over to Clark.

Wea. SUN. JAN. 13, 1901 Ther.
Helped do chores and Alice and I stayed home all day. In eve took a bath.
(Aged 20)
Wea. MON. JAN. 13, 1902 Ther.
Ray drew out 3 loads of manure. Alice, the baby + I all went over to pa’s. I helped him put in a sled tongue. Paid Ray $10. Traded coats + capes.

Worked in the mill all day.

Wea. WED. JAN. 13, 1904 Ther.
Worked up in woods for Lyle Coe.
Bought a revolver + shot gun of (?) Vanderwark for $4.00.
Editor's Note: "Yelmer" Warn seems to be Elmer's nickname. Uncle Gib and Aunt May are Gilbert Eccles and his wife Mary Cass Eccles. Mary is Frank Cass' sister.
So 1900, the day after Alice's birthday party, Allen has another date with her. It is looking like Alice has no problem with "eau de manure" in fact it looks like our boy is smitten too.
